The types of FPC

With a layer of chemically etched conductive graphics, the conductive graphics layer on the flexible insulation substrate is calendered copper foil.Insulation substrates may be polyimide, polyethylene terephthalate, aromatic amide fiber ester, and polyvinyl chloride.The single-layer FPC can be further divided into the following four sub-categories:

1. Single connection without covering layer

The wire pattern is on the insulation substrate, the wire surface has no covering layer, its interconnection is to use tin welding, fusion welding or pressure welding to achieve, often in the early telephone.

2. Single side connection with covering layer

Compared with the previous class, there is only one more covering layer on the surface of the wire.Cover with the solder pad exposed, simple can be in the end area is not covered.It is one of the most widely used single-sided soft PCB, which is used in automobile instrument and electronic instrument.

3. Double-sided connection without covering layer

The connection disc interface can be connected on the front and back of the wire. A passage hole is made on the insulation substrate at the welding pad. The passage hole can be made by punching, etching or other mechanical methods at the desired position of the insulation substrate.

4. Double-sided connection with covering layer

Unlike the preceding class, the surface is provided with a covering layer, and the covering layer is provided with a path hole, allowing it to be terminated on both sides, while still maintaining the covering layer, which is made of two layers of insulation material and one layer of metal conductor.
